JAPANESE INSPIRED
THE PLACE - A large detached house where the garden wraps around the property. However the garden areas were disjointed with nothing to draw the eye around the space. The clients had grown up children so no longer needed the lawn for football and sports. They could now have the garden they really wanted.
THE BRIEF
Our clients were well-travelled and had always wanted a Japanese inspired garden, somewhere to showcase their sculpture and introduce new trees and plants. We decided to bring together elements of Japanese materials and plants to create a bespoke design.
THE DESIGN
We based our concept design on a large Taijitu symbol which would be viewed from the raised patio with a winding path weaving through it to a new black timber pergola.
We incorporated standing stones, cloud-pruned pine trees, a water feature and lantern, and authentic Japanese plants and ornaments from the Japanese Garden Centre in Tonbridge, Kent. Ambient light Garden completed the scheme.
