A MODERN CLASSIC
THE PLACE - Set against the backdrop of a beautiful period home, the goal was to reimagine the classic English Country Garden for modern living. We breathed new life into an outdated planting scheme, using traditional favourites with a contemporary twist. The result is a colourful garden that adds layers of interest while working in harmony with the site’s established character.
THE BRIEF
The ambition was to breathe new life into a large tired garden, transforming it into a dynamic setting for modern family life. Key to the brief was expanding the outdoor living potential, creating a generous entertaining area where the family could gather comfortably with friends, shifting the focus from an outdated layout to a welcoming, social space.
THE DESIGN
From the initial arrival at the front driveway to the active spaces at the rear, the design was crafted to ensure a cohesive flow throughout the entire property. We carved the garden into purposeful zones - a place to entertain, a space to grow, and an area for sports. These spaces are unified by the use of beautiful natural materials like sawn sandstone and oak for the hard landscaping and structures with an exciting, colourful planting palette.
Stepping away from the formal areas, we introduced a charming kitchen garden. Designed to be both beautiful and productive, this space invites the family to grow their own seasonal fruit and vegetables, creating a tangible connection from the soil to the kitchen table.
Finally, to cater for the younger generation, the design features specific areas for sports. From a spacious lawn for ball games to the inviting swimming pool, we ensured the garden is a place for fun and play as much as it is
for relaxation.
