This 1930s semi in North London has been extensively refurbished with a large living room and dining room extension added on the back. The rear garden sloped up steeply and a huge amount of earth was dug out by hand to create a patio area with wide steps and two symmetrical terraces built as tiers to lessen the impact of the two metre drop from lawn to patio.
